Well spoken Pastor Mike - would that all churches would be welcoming and gracious to everyone who seeks God's redemption from their sins. The Lord takes us where we're at.

@Mark - I think Pastor Mike has identified the key point from a church perspective, not missed it. You've missed a point of Pastor Mike's, Eric Elnes has tried to put everyone else's church under the label of those who would harass and persecute homosexuals. I would reject that label.

This "proclamation" makes clear its position that non-heterosexual activity is not a sin. Unlike the need for the reformation after several hundred years of corruption, this was not a position that the 1st century church held that needs to be re-embraced. Paul was not slack in his statements about maintaining sexual purity. Perhaps Eric Elnes will post his exposition on passages to support his position for discussion.

The church is given direction through 1 Tim 3:2 for qualifications of church leadership, in regards to the current discussion, to be the "husband of one wife," as well as listing additional character traits. There is no mention of being "the husband of one husband". It would seem using this criteria is unacceptable "discrimination" to you for selecting qualified leaders in a local church.

So homosexuality is still a sin in your eyes? How about divorce? Divorce is condemned far more forcefully in the Bible than homosexuality, yet you never hear about anti-divorce discrimination being justfiied by using the Bible. I think you missed the point - when someone's interpretation of the Bible is used to justify discrimination, all Christians lose.

I really appreciate your comments. I saw this segment on the news and very unhappy about the "Christian" umbrella that we are all thrown under. I appreciated your comments very much.

This video is interesting on several different levels:

"Penn" admires people with conviction - If you believe there is eternal life, how bad of a person does he have to be to not share that with him?

The man who gave him the Bible was sincere and a "good man" - The professional and personal comments this man shared with Penn were truly heartfelt. The man speaking/sharing with him was transparent and honest. This man's sincerity was apparent and came across without trying to start a debate.

Penn states several times this was a "good man" - Penn recognizes this man has qualities he can respect. Would that we all could speak with consistent sincerity and humbleness to covey God's grace.
